Jimmy: I think that the tea party is an effective historical reference because there are so many people that are familiar with it. That said, I feel like Lincoln may have abused the idea of rebellion during a time of injustice a bit in his defense of the two ladies who messed up a saloon, based on the way the article was written. The Boston Tea Party is a patriotic symbol of standing up for liberty and I think that it is very appropriate to use today, as long as it is not being abused. Sincerely Jimmy Wyngaarden

I think the Boston Tea Party Movement was appropriate at the time because, they are standing up for what they believe in. They made an statement that still has an impact on us today and is very memorable. It might have been a childish act but it was something they felt will get there point across and it succeeded at that. I also believe that the Tea Party Movement of 2010 choose that name because it has the feelings behind it as the first rebellion did. The Tea Party Movement has a common refusal towards the government as the first one had.
